Each movement draws inspiration from a different classical composer: 1st movement - Beethoven; 2nd movement - Debussy; 3rd movement - Bartók. Mvt. II is full of passionate and contemplative "night music," while mvt. III provides a flashy and exciting conclusion featuring an octatonic fugue!
